Gentlemen, come and join us on 13-15 October 2023 for a seminar on happiness, goodness and what leads us to a fulfilled life. On this course, Fr Alfred Sonnenfeld will examine the disastrous consequences of movements and ideas such as postmodernism, which breaks with any kind of ethical argumentation founded on a universal sense of truth, good and beauty. He will also talk about disorders of the person that are on the rise: individualism, narcissism and perfectionism. He will explain how imperfections can be tackled by the acquisition of virtues and good habits. He will look at the importance of understanding the ‘why’ of our actions; and especially why we must choose the beautiful and the good.
Fr Alfred will address the questions: What does it mean for me to lead a successful life? What makes me truly happy? Fr Alfred Sonnenfeld is Professor of Anthropology at UNIR, an online university in Spain. He teaches two Master’s degree courses at the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been an expert member of the Ethics Commission of the University Clinic Charité of Berlin and professor at the Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University of Berlin. He has appeared frequently on German TV and radio to talk about bioethical matters. He is a priest of the Opus Dei Prelature. He was ordained in 1978.
The seminar starts with a buffet dinner at 7.30pm on Friday and ends at 5.30pm on Sunday. The fee for the weekend seminar is £199. We request that this amount be paid by each participant even if he does not attend for the full weekend. Optional contributions over and above the cost of the course for the upkeep of the Conference Centre may be made and given to the course director. The seminar is organised by the Opus Dei prelature.
