Fast track Programme

Are you aged 16 or over? Are you interested in gaining experience in a real work environment? If you are, join our six-day Fast Track Programme especially designed to help you develop a set of transferable skills, while learning, having fun and earning a wage.

You will spend three days in a commercial kitchen and three days in a food service and accommodation area.  During this time with us you will receive personal training and mentoring by the professionals in each area.

On completing the programme, you will receive a certificate and a folder with all the material you have used during the training. We are happy to offer our fast trackers a weekend or school holiday job with us. This programme provides valuable work experience that will open doors to further training and employment in many different areas.

Donations

Your donations make all the difference and help us to give more to others. We are very grateful to all our friends and benefactors to help us meet the costs of repairs and maintenance work to the building and grounds as well as a rolling programme of improvements and modernisation of the amenities at the Hall. Bequests

Leaving a bequest in your Will is the perfect way of making a donation without it costing you anything right now. Although tax rules are always subject to change, bequests to registered charities are, and have been for many years, completely exempt from Inheritance Tax. Whether or not you have already made a Will, we would advise, to be on the safe side, that you instruct a solicitor to prepare/amend your Will to add a bequest. We will also be glad to provide you, on request, with the appropriate wording for a bequest to Siddington Trust Limited.

Suggested wording of a Will bequest to Siddington Trust Limited

Either:

1)            A bequest of a specific sum of money:

“I give free of tax to Siddington Trust Limited Registered Charity number 282339 of Thornycroft Hall Siddington  Macclesfield SK11 9JN the sum of ………………POUNDS (£……………….) for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other proper Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.

Or:

2)            A bequest of a share of the residuary estate:

“Subject to the payment of my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses I give the rest of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my Will or any Codicil hereto as follows:

(list each beneficiary including relationship if family, address and share including):

As to [here state a specific percentage or a specific fraction as appropriate] to Siddington Trust Limited Registered Charity number 282339 of Thornycroft Hall Pexhill Road Siddington Macclesfield SK11 9JN for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other Property Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.

Fundraise for Thornycroft

Help us raise funds by organising your own fundraising event. Here are some ideas of what you could do:

Birthday Fundraiser
Request donations instead of gifts for your birthday.

Book Sale
Gather together any unwanted books and ask your friends to donate theirs too and have a book sale at your house.

Coffee Morning
invite friends over for a coffee morning then either charge an entry fee or sell cakes and have a raffle.

Donate Your Coffee Money
Ask people to forego their daily coffee just once and donate the money they would have spent to Thornycroft instead.

Host a Workshop
If you’re an expert at something and can teach other people such as flower arranging or you specialise in a particular area of history, science, art or technology, take advantage of this skill and host a workshop. You can sell tickets and get sign-ups on Eventbrite.

Matched Donations
Some companies have a matched donation scheme. Why not ask and see if they can match your fundraising efforts?

Quiz Night
Download some quiz questions from the internet and invite people over for a quiz night. Charge a small entry fee and offer a prize such as a bottle of wine. You could do this virtually over zoom if you wanted to make it more of a national event.

Sponsored Run or Walk
Join an organised 5k or an ultra marathon with a friend or two and ask for sponsorship. If running is a bit too challenging then set a route, ask for sponsorship and record it on one of the many phone apps. Don’t walk alone! Encourage your family and friends to walk with you.

Whatever you decide to do for a fundraising event, make sure you include as many people as you can and have lots of fun!
